Brazil remains a country with unregulated gambling business

Brazilian MPs have decided that the issue of legalizing gambling in Brazil will definitely be considered - but not today. Parliamentarians plan to wait first for new parliamentary elections.

At the moment in Brazil "anything is possible" because the gambling sphere is not regulated. In the online format there are many casinos, BKs and video slots. Profits from all this go to the owners in addition to the tax authorities.

When (and if) gambling is legalized in Brazil, it will bring multimillion revenues to the treasury. But for now, everything remains the same.

Iran has officially banned cryptocurrencies

Iranian banks are now deprived of the right to conduct any cryptocurrency operations.

Perhaps, the reason for the ban was not so much "fear of terrorists," as the unwillingness to quarrel with the United States, which has already imposed sanctions on Iran. Allowing cryptocurrencies would leave loopholes for violations of the sanctions regime, which could cause additional pressure on Iran.

Interestingly, shortly before that, Iran was seriously considering creating its own state cryptocurrency. But for now, this initiative is likely to be forgotten.

Cryptocurrency is the real reason for blocking Telegram

Everyone has heard about the fact that the messenger Telegram was blocked in Russia. But not everyone knows that the real reason for the blocking was not "terrorists" and not even the fact that Telegram does not allow the FSB to read messages. Pavel Durov, the owner of Telegram, had a major project to issue his own tokens, which could be exchanged uncontrolled through this messenger. And this is an alternative payment system, perfect for banned goods and services.

However, it remains to be seen whether the authorities will be able to completely block Telegram or at least prevent it from launching its own cryptocurrency.

Russian court recognizes cryptocurrency as property for the first time

As recently as yesterday, May 8, the Arbitration Court of Appeals of Russia recognized cryptocurrency as property. The decision was made as a result of a lawsuit between a Russian citizen and a Russian company.

During the proceedings, it turned out that the defendant has a large amount of money in the cryptocurrency wallet. The court included it in the bankruptcy estate, thus creating a precedent: previously cryptocurrencies were not considered the property of citizens.

It is possible that this precedent will influence the final law on cryptocurrencies in Russia, which should be adopted this September.

Slovenia has not legalized online gambling for foreign companies

Another attempt to push through a law that would have allowed foreign online casinos to operate in the country was once again unsuccessful. The National Council vetoed the bill itself, and it is unknown if and when consideration will resume.

Despite all this the country continues the illegal activities of foreign bookmakers and casinos, from which no taxes are paid. But there is no indication that this situation will change soon.
